How to add files to SoundTaxi for conversion?

To add your files, click "Select Files" button in the program window and choose desired files for conversion. Another way to add your files is to drag-n-drop single files or entire folders from Windows Explorer to SoundTaxi window.

What is the main requirement for conversion?

The main requirement for conversion is that you can play your original files in Windows Media Player / QuickTime Player / iTunes / Rhapsody software / Real Player (depending on the file type) on your PC. If that works, SoundTaxi should be able to convert them successfully.

Where can I find my converted files?

Your converted files are stored (by default) in the folder set as "Output Folder" (see SoundTaxi settings), e.g. C:\Converted. You can copy them elsewhere manually using Windows Explorer.

How to copy my Drm protected files to iPod/iPhone/iPad?

Please make sure you have the latest SoundTaxi and iTunes software installed on your machine. Connect your iPod, iPhone or iPad to your PC and follow these steps:

Method I - the easiest

1. Select the "Manually manage music and videos" option in iTunes. Open iTunes and click on your iPod, iPhone or iPad under the "Devices" submenu. In the "Options" section, make sure "Manually manage music and videos" is checked. Click "Apply".

2. Select your converted files in SoundTaxi and click the "Copy to iPod" button. Done. In SoundTaxi, convert your files to an iPod / iPhone / iPad compatible format (AAC for audio, MPEG4 for video). Select the converted files and click the copy to iPod button. The converted files will be trasnferred directly to you device.

Note: With the "Manually manage music and videos" option checked, iTunes will not autmoatically sync your music / movie library with your Apple device. All the syncing will have to be done manually by clicking the "sync" button. If you want automatic syncing to work, plese refer to Method II.

Method II - easy

1. Manually configure the syncing options for your iPod / iPhone / iPad in iTunes. Open iTunes and click on your iPod, iPhone or iPad under the "Devices" submenu. In the main window, navigate to the "Movies" tab, check the "Sync Movies" option and select how many recent movies you want to automatically be copied to your device during each sync session. Navigate to the "Music" tab, check the "Sync Music" option.

Troubleshooting the "File has been added to iTunes media library but not to your iPod" error. If SoundTaxi detects a problem with your syncing settings, it will notify you with the above error message. Files won't be copied to the device in this case. If you see this error message, make sure your iTunes settings are configured as described above. If your settings look correct, manually click the "Sync" button in iTunes to copy your files to your iPod / iPhone / iPad.

How to run SoundTaxi on Mac?

There are two ways to run SoundTaxi on a Mac:

  1. using the built-in Boot Camp feature
  2. using the virtual PC / emulating software

I - Boot Camp

Recent versions of Mac OS include the Boot Camp feature, which allows users to dual boot a complete Windows OS and a Mac OS on a Mac computer.

Refer to the following instruction for setting up Boot Camp on your Mac: using Windows via Boot Camp

Once you set up Boot Camp, you can run SoundTaxi inside Windows on a Mac just as you would on a PC. Install SoundTaxi and iTunes inside Windows and you are good to go.

Note: The benefits of Boot Camp include being able to use a complete Windows installation on your Mac and the ability to run other Windows software. Also, Boot Camp is officially supported by Apple, hence the availability of official technical support.

II - virtual PC / emulator software

There is a variety of third party software that allows you to use Windows applications on a Mac via "emulation" methods. Our users had success running SoundTaxi using VMWare and Parallels Desktop software:

  1. VMware for Mac
  2. Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac

Parallels seems to be the easiest option with the most flexibility. Please, refer to the product's official web-site mentioned above for instructions on using Windows software with a Mac computer.

Note: SoundTaxi isn't affiliated nor does it develop or support "VMWare" / "Parallels Dekstop" products. If you need information or technical support while using this software, please refer to the vendor's official web-sites.

Can SoundTaxi delete my original files?
